strawberry crop has been produced by Japanese and this state has become third
in the nation in the production of this crop. Evacuation of Japanese has left,
in Santa Clara County
alone, 50 unoccupied strawberry farms, crop value around $100,000 annually. In
this state the Japanese cropped approximately 11,000 acres.“ --San Fransisco

The workers in the field are members of or related to the family who operates
the farm. During harvest season they work about 10 to 12 hours a day everyday
except Saturday. Their home is seen beyond the strawberry rows. Note
irrigation.
