Sioux tepees, Fort Buford, DakotaTerritory May 1881. 1500 Sioux Indians--men, women and children--part of the force that defeated Custer's command - 7“ Cavalry, -Little Big Horn River Montanta Territory. June, 1876. Surrendered at Poplar Creek, Montanta Territory, February, 1881. & were brought to Fort Buford, and held in camp until late in June, when they were sent to the Standing Rock Agency. Sitting Bull gave himself up in May - a last comer. L.D. Gruner, Lieut. Col. was stationed at Ft. Buford and knew many of the Leading natives.
