About the Gallery The Gallery of the Open Frontier, an online resource drawn initially from the primary collections of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), serves two essential functions:
To create the Gallery of the Open Frontier, the University of Nebraska Press scanned images from the holdings of the National Archives. Each image has the NARA-supplied identifying data entered into a database for future access. The Gallery contains over 23,000 images. |
